If we confess our sins...

("If we confess our sins ...")
Vacuuming the floor can be frustrating because even as it is being cleaned, we know it will get dirty again. The same is true with dirty dishes, windows, clothes, floors, and even the children. Have you ever said: "I‚--ôm not going to do the dishes because they‚--ôll just get dirty again anyway"? Probably everyone has been so frustrated at times.
Yet we know it is the nature of floors, clothes, and dishes to get dirty. So we put the cleanser to them anyway.
Christians confess to God that we are in bondage to sin or by nature sinful and unclean. We so confess that we need cleansing by Christ. Because we know we will get dirty again due to our human nature, we come to our Lord all the more regularly for the cleansing we need.
Certainly it‚--ôs frustrating that we need Christ‚--ôs cleansing daily (we just can‚--ôt seem to stay clean on our own), but who among us would stop taking showers because we know we will soon be stinky again. Neither do we want to smell of sin, so we come to Christ who can cleanse us daily with forgiveness.
