It is said that Calvin Coolidge was a man of few words. He was a religious person who attended church regularly with his family. One Sunday his wife was ill and the famous President had to attend church by himself. When he returned home after the worship service, his wife said to him, "How was church today?" To this Calvin Coolidge replied, "Fine." But the former first lady desired more information, so she said to her husband, "How was the sermon?" "Fine," replied Calvin Coolidge. She was not satisfied with this answer, so she asked another question, "What did the minister preach on?" "Sin," replied Coolidge. Still wanting to know more, Mrs. Coolidge said to her husband, "And what did the minister say about sin?" To this, the man who became known as "Silent Cal" replied, "He said he was against it!" -- Frank
