It was difficult to find anyone willing to direct vacation Bible school. There had been a
different person the last three years. A sixteen-year-old boy expressed interest. His
mother said that she would help and together they would co-direct. She knew that there
might be some in the church that might not approve of having someone so young in
charge.
Josh began organizing the week-long VBS. He had no problem finding other young people to help. They painted large pieces of cardboard to use as a set. Josh designed a flyer to distribute in the nearby neighborhoods. He worked well with the adults who were amazed at his commitment.
Vacation Bible school was a success. Something no one expected as they planned was that several neighborhood families whose children attended were quite impressed that a teenager would lead VBS. Josh had a wonderful way of relating to the children. One family began attending church as a result of their children's positive experience at vacation Bible school.
Jeremiah was a young boy when God called him. Jeremiah could not use the excuse that he was only a boy. God continues to call people of all ages. We are never too young or too old to serve the Lord.
