Jesus' disciples had a serious problem with humility. Who doesn't?
The French painter Jean-Baptiste Isabey visited at the Congress of Vienna in 1815 in order to make a visual record of the dignitaries who participated. The great French diplomat Talleyrand indicated he expected to have the place of honor at the center of the picture. A similar stipulation was made by the Duke of Wellington.
Isabey solved the difficulty with masterly diplomacy. He showed the Duke of Wellington entering the hall, with every eye turned toward him. Talleyrand was pictured sitting in an armchair at the center of the picture. Two enormous egos were simultaneously massaged.
