Jesus tells us the real...

Jesus tells us the real purpose of the Bible when he says, "He (the Spirit) will glorify me, for he will take what is mine (that is, what I have said) and declare it to you." And here we have a reference to the mystery of the Trinity when Jesus adds, "All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you." So the whole purpose of the Bible is to glorify Jesus. And it's when we find Jesus in the Bible that it becomes so exciting we just can't leave it alone.
Some time ago the Associated Press told about two brothers in the mountains of West Virginia who were accused of using $7,800 in welfare funds to buy a huge satellite antenna so they could pick up TV stations all over the country and even overseas. "We bought the antenna mostly for Mom," the brothers said. "She's 90 years old and can't go anywhere. She watches TV a lot." But there was a picture that went with the story, and there was "Mom," right in front of the TV set, sound asleep. Well, the boys were just using "Mom" as an excuse, of course. But the picture makes us think of the way Jesus spent far more than any $7,800. He gave his life on Calvary so we could have eternal life in heaven. This is the message of the Bible. Yet some appreciate it so little they can fall asleep in church or doze over the Scriptures. If we stay alert, the Word will glorify Jesus and inspire us!
