The knight, in King Arthur's day, when fully dressed, needed a strong, large horse to bear the weight of his armor-clad body. When hunting, he used a small, swift horse. And when parading through the village in full regalia, he was on his high horse. He was looked up to as being superior to the lowly peasant who was forced to travel on the ground. Thus did the expression, "get off your high horse," originate.
And this is what repentance means: dismount, get off your high horse! We can turn around and walk with all those others who are moving into the future with God.
