A house is a major investment that most families seek to make. Pride is directed to the purchase. Care and time are spent to choose just the right house to purchase. Because of this we tend to buy a home because of its builder.
We buy Ryan Homes. Homes by Sandler. Rolling Acres Homes. Homes that bear the trademark of distinction by way of name, location or socioeconomic clime.
Some homes become show places. These homes are not lived in but are showed off to the public. They are homes which had a very famous person either design it or build it. Maybe the appointments to the home were done by some very famous interior decorator. A home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright becomes not only a living facility, but also a work of art.
Paul calls us to a house, too, you know: "We are his house." This should cause some of us to be unsettled. As a pastor I am often times told, "Please don't come to my house without calling first. I would just die if you walked in unannounced." BUT GOD IS ALREADY AT HOME IN YOUR HOUSE! It doesn't matter what my eyes do not see -- because God's eyes have already seen the dirt and dust and uncleanness of your heart. If we make our home with God present, then we have a house of God, a church if you will. The condition of the house will tell if the unseen guest is in or not!
