A logical connection between "as" and "even so" runs throughout scripture, and from scripture into our lives. As the Father sent me, even so I send you; as I breathe upon you and give the Holy Spirit even so you are to breathe your influence into the lives of others and pass along the Holy Spirit; as Thomas was reluctant to believe until he saw, even so we are reluctant; as those who believe without seeing are blessed, even so we are blessed when we believe without seeing; as people experience in Jesus the Christ, even so do we.

As a great tension lay in the resurrection that permeated all events and helped build the church, even so the resurrection conti nues to permeate events of this Eastertide and every little Easter throughout the year. Many fanciful things could be said by such parallelisms.

As we recapitulate the events of the gospel story, even so a creative tension enters our lives as we enter into fellowship with Christ. But the language need not be so elevated. At the heart of the matter is a very simple, everyday concept. As people have seen and borne witness to Jesus down through the years, even so people do today. As the bonds of the living Christ tie us to the gospel events, even so they free us from self-imposed limitations and put us to Kingdom work.
