William Shirer, in his monumentab work, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, tells us that Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian, an abstainer from tobacco, and a teetotaler to boot! If you did not know the name and reputation of the person being described, you might assume he was a very moral person. The fact is Hitler was one of the most immoral persons who ever lived. Sick with hate, he ruthlessly ordered the extermination of millions of people, because he did not like their race or religion. He was a man seemingly devoid of love -- except for his mistress and dog. Hitler's abstinence from meat, tobacco and alcohol did not make him a good moral person. Only love of God and neighbor could have done that! After all, the love commandments are the sum and essence of morality. In the love commandments, all the other moral commandments are summed up.
