The Mackenzie family had a specific, regular routine for Sunday mornings. Mother got herself and the children ready for worship. Father got himself ready. When he had finished preparing himself, he sat in the car and honked the horn until all had arrived. He offered no help. One day, after much fear and trepidation, the boys decided to put a smoke bomb in the car. When dad honked the horn on that Sunday, the bomb exploded, blowing up the hood. Silence reigned. The boys held their breath. More silence followed. Then, finally, everyone burst into laughter, including father. He got the message. -- Keller
