Managing a ball team is much like being a prophet. The manager must convince the team that what he says is in their best interest. Some managers have success wherever they go: Pat Riley in pro basketball, Sparky Anderson in major league baseball, Chuck Knox in pro football, all have had success with more than one team in their respective fields. Somehow these and several others can take a team, with all its various moods, traits, and personalities and mold it into a cohesive unit, willing to listen to them and what they have to say.
