In many ways God communicated...

In many ways God communicated his love and expectations to his people: Through the Law, the Prophets, and finally "in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son ..." Through the incarnation God came to earth to tell us and show us the depths of his love.
After only a week of married life, a young husband had to leave his bride to fight in the Viet Nam war. Though they were half a world apart, the soldier faithfully sent letters to his new wife with messages of his love. Whenever possible he would send gifts to remind her of his love. H6wever, as nice as those things were, they were only a temporary substitute for him.
Then one night there was an unexpected knock on her apartment door. Very cautiously she opened it and to her amazement, there stood her husband with a beautiful bow on his head. They ran into each other's arms with tears and joy of reunion. That Christmas she received the greatest gift he could offer -- the gift of himself.
