Many years ago my mother...

Many years ago my mother told of a young man who lived in her community and graduated from medical school.
She said she had always called the young man by his first name and continued to do so after he started practicing medicine. One day when she had spoken to him by his first name, he sternly said, "Mrs. Jones, I studied long and worked hard several years to become a doctor, I would appreciate it if you would address me as doctor instead of by my first name."
My mother said she never could get used to calling him doctor.
Because Jesus had grown up in their midst, the people of Nazareth could not bring themselves to recognize Jesus as the Messiah. It was hard for them to accept the truth that one from their midst was the fulfillment of Isaiah 61.
