Margaret held her breath. She couldn't decide what to do. Should she go to school in the East or on the West Coast? Both choices were for her benefit, but she had come to the deadline and the answer was not within her. Her mother said to pray about it. Margaret didn't feel that was right. Wasn't God busy with important things? Like so many wars going on around the world? Or with children who were being exploited or hurt? And certainly those with illnesses deserved God's attention far more than Margaret. She waited for an answer to come to her. The day came when she would have to declare her decision in front of a panel. Nothing came to her. A church sign caught her attention as she drove to her meeting. "Even the hairs on your head are counted." If even the hairs on her head were counted, surely God would see her dilemma. Where was her answer? She was getting a little angry with God. She laughed at the bumper sticker on the car next to her. "Ask and you shall receive ... just make sure you really want it." Margaret asked God aloud what she should do. She hadn't done that in a long time and it felt good to ask outright. If even the sparrows' needs were known, surely God would know which way she should decide. All she had to do was ask!
