During World War II the Germans ran notorious concentration camps. There weren't many survivors of these ghastly institutions. One man who did survive told of how all joy had gone out of the camp. No one sang or whistled. There was very little sharing and much bickering and hoarding. People refused to even look up, choosing instead to stare at the ground. Hope had all but died when one afternoon in the fourth year of detention the drone of an airplane was heard. Only a few looked up as most expected it to be a German bomber. The drone of the aircraft grew louder as the plane approached and finally flew overhead. It was a United States bomber! The insignia was unmistakable! The allies had invaded. They were not forgotten! The former prisoner goes on to tell how hope was reborn in a Nazi hell camp. Within an hour of the bomber's flyover, a crowd was singing. There was dancing, and the sound of laughter. People began to speak of the future!
