In the movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, archaeologist Indiana Jones receives word of the possible existence of the lost Ark of the Covenant referred to in the Old Testament. Naturally, his professional curiosity is hooked and he embarks on an adventurous journey to find this treasure. His motives seem good and pure as he hopes to find the ark for study and display. He has read quite a bit of literature about the ark and knows of dangers connected with it. Of particular interest to him are the passages in the Old Testament which tell of death to those mishandling the ark. He is not sure how he is going to handle the ark once he finds it, but his curiosity leads him on his venture nonetheless. Unfortunately, the villains of the movie get their hands on the ark just as Indiana and his group arrive on the scene. Because the villains have evil intentions of greed and power-
mongering, their physical contact with the ark brings God's wrath upon them and they suffer a horrible death. So instead of having the ark to study and display for Christians and Jews to observe, Indiana is left with a first-hand experience of an awe-inspiring tale. -- Thompson
