Mrs. Mary Barrett said that...

Mrs. Mary Barrett said that we should praise God and give thanks for everything that happens to us. Then she related the following experience.
At the end of our carport we have a utility room where we do our laundry. Our driveway slopes steeply towards the house. We sometimes park our car in the driveway to give us more room in the carport.
Last week the brakes gave way on our car; the car ran through the carport and slammed into the outside wall of the utility room with such force that the wall was caved in and pushed into our clothes dryer putting it out of commission.
As she looked at the damage, she said, "I wonder how I am to praise God for this incident. Then it occured to me how fragile material things were, and only the Grace of God was eternal. Then I praised God and thanked Him for this revelation."
Mary was "enriched in him" (v. 5) because she had the "spiritual gift" (v. 7) to see beyond the ordinary events of daily life.
