Muriel was in the hospital...

Muriel was in the hospital, awaiting an amputation. I had visited her several times, and I always felt that she was ministering to me more than I was ministering to her. It was the very day before her surgery, and I made my way into the hospital with some trepidation. I wasn't sure what to say or how to say it to her. Would she be resentful, anxious, frightened, angry with God perhaps?
She was up, physically in a chair, and spiritually, too. Yes, up. I referred to her acceptance, understanding, readiness for her surgery. Without hesitation, she said: "Why would I not be ready? My husband is right here with me. My son and his wife have been doing everything they could for us. The nurses are wonderful. The doctor is one of the finest. Everyone is doing so much. I've concluded the thing I can do is to be decent."
That's "conducting yourself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ."
