Nearly everyone had loved Jane...

Nearly everyone had loved Jane. She was a nice person who seemed able and willing to help in so many ways. She also had a humble spirit that seemed to invite people to trust her and feel at ease with her. Now after 83 years, Jane's life had come to an end. Friends and family gathered at the church to pay their respects, to hear the words of comfort and hope, and to be reminded of the promise of the gospel, not only for Jane, but also for themselves. As the time for the sermon came, the pastor spoke and said, "We could say many things about Jane but for me the heart of the matter is this. Jane knew Jesus loved her. She was confident of that and lived it out. She loved and cared naturally and with no desire for credit. She was a simple and humble servant of Christ." As those words were said, almost everyone present quietly and unconsciously nodded -- for the words were true.
