Not everyone welcomes the newcomer...

Not everyone welcomes the newcomer with unrestrained spirit. Native-born citizens of Colorado began to sport bumper stickers with the word NATIVE. This is said to have begun out of resentment against outsiders, but it offended long-time residents who then adopted a sticker of their own: SEMI-NATIVE. Before long other slogans appeared on cars throughout the state: TRANSPLANT, ALIEN, RESTLESS NATIVES.
A good-natured conflict over identity developed. It began with bumper stickers and spread to T shirts and other forms of advertising. Since every state has an identity it likes to sell to the public, who knows where it will end.
Identity is one thing Christians don't have to worry about. Their adoption into God's family makes them sons and daughters of the King. The prophet Isaiah (62:2) refers to that great day in the future when their identity will become clear to the nations of the world: "You shall be called by a new name which the mouth of the Lord will give."
