Wherever Anne went, she ran each morning. Today she followed a route down 10th Street, right on Elm, and arrived at 425 Minneapolis Avenue, her family home. What joy filled her on that four-mile run. As she passed Mrs. Sko's house, her pleasant reminiscence was interrupted abruptly. Glancing over, she saw a curtain suddenly move. The next day, she slowed, looking again. Yes! She saw her, that vindictive old woman looking at her -- pale, sour, and scowling with disdain. Did she know who Anne was? After thirty years, did she know the impact of her mean behavior on a fourteen-year-old girl?
Love of God and love of neighbor are commands Christians are to practice. Could Anne forgive the wrong she had suffered by a woman with a cutting tongue? "Forgive as you have been forgiven," she thought. Anne knew what she had to do.
