Yoga instructor Alice Van Ness was terminated from her position at the Menlo Park campus of Facebook. The 35-year-old teacher realizes that yoga requires self-discipline. Against her instructions, students would come in late, leave early, fidget during meditations, and use their cell phones.
When she glared at one student for using her cell phone during class, the student complained to management, and Van Ness was fired. Van Ness had been told previously by management that she is "to just let the students do whatever they wanted." And with constant disruption in the class as a result of the absence of discipline, the benefits of yoga could never be acquired.
Van Ness said, "The culture of these places is to let them do whatever they want. And I'm just not really okay with anarchy."
Application: Jesus cautions us that many will be led astray by following false gods. Many will be led astray due to the lack of self-discipline.
