An old saying tells us...

An old saying tells us there is no free lunch, but there are literally hundreds of freebies if you take the time and trouble to look.
What is a freebie? Something of monetary value, yet nothing has to be given to receive it. No strings attached. No hidden costs or agenda. It is simply given.
For example, even if you cannot travel to distant shores and luxuriate on sandy beaches far from the jangle of your telephone, your travel agent has plenty of folders and other material to set your fantasies flowing.
Other examples: Your Avon lady is more than willing to pass out free samples of her products. Barber colleges may give you a trim if you are willing to take a chance on a novice. Most video shops have free memberships and regular mailings of their newest offerings.
Who has not strolled down supermarket aisles and received free pieces of pizza, sausage, ice cream, and baked goods? There are free concerts in the park, free blood pressure checks in shopping centers, and free energy audits of our homes.
The list of giveaways is almost endless. It takes only a limited imagination to participate, but none is greater than the "freebie" God continues to offer us through his Son. "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith," says the apostle. He knows there is a "free lunch," and it is the full and free grace of God in Jesus Christ. No strings attached.
