One has only to look at the vast number of books available in any bookstore to realize that there is no end to the number of books that people can buy. Library shelves are filled with all sorts of volumes. Very few people can remember bestsellers from one year to the next. Tastes change and styles change. Yet there is one book that remains a bestseller.
The Bible is always the single volume that sells best, even though people may not always understand its content. Harrell Beck, formerly of Boston University School of Theology, used to tell of the woman who went into a bookstore and asked for the Bible "where Jesus talks to himself in red." The Bible will always be a bestseller. People will always need to read what Jesus has to say when he "talks to himself in red."
