One of my favorite...

One of my favorite playground toys as a child was the seesaw. I loved it when my father would gently apply pressure to his end of the seesaw and I would go high into the air on my side. As a small child I couldn't figure out why when dad put weight on his side causing it to touch the ground, my side went up. Shouldn't my side go down, too? It wasn't long before I discovered how this first-class level worked and was satisfied. I still like to try out the seesaw even to this day!
The seesaw comes to mind whenever I read this and similar passages because the principle of the seesaw is at work verbally. Jesus put all his weighty authority behind his command to silence. That should have squashed all proclamation. But the more weight he put to this command, the more the people spread the message around. It is a classic verbal first class lever in action.
