One summer, a boy named Tommy was playing Little League Baseball. Tommy was on first base when the batter hit a high fly ball down the left field line. Somebody called, "Foul!" and so the batter didn't even try to run to first base. But Tommy, being on first base, just took off running. As Tommy rounded second base, his coach at third base was waving and yelling at him to go back to first base, but Tommy ignored the coach's gestures and rounded third base and came home to score. Everybody was waiting for the umpire to send Tommy back to first base, but when the umpire called Tommy safe, they then realized that the ball was indeed fair. The batter started to run and barely made it to first base safely. People laughed at Tommy until they realized that he had run the right way. Tommy ran the right way because he was in the best position to know which way to run.
When you are in trouble, which way do you run, to or away from God? Jesus is the Good Shepherd and he calls us to trust him and to run to him when we need help.
