One Sunday a minister was delivering a sermon on temptation, when he suddenly felt that the message was not suitable for the congregation, and was compelled to speak extemporaneously to the group with these words: "Perhaps there is one among you who is so miserable as to think of throwing himself over the bridge nearby, saying it is too late for me; there is no hope. But I say to you, Stop! Stop! There is hope. Christ died for you. He will forgive. He will save you!" A few weeks later a woman came to him and said that she had determined to jump from the bridge one Sunday evening, but thinking it was still light and a policeman might stop her, she went into the church to wait for the darkness. Standing in the crowd within the church, it seemed to her that the minister was speaking directly to her, telling her to stop and come to Christ. She went back home to pray, and became a true and happy Christian. -- Byrd
