Oskar Schindler in the movie Schindler's List decried the fact that even though he had saved 1,100 Jews, first by finding them jobs in his utensil factory, and later in his shell casing factory, he still had not done enough. At the end of the movie, as he bade farewell to the people whom he had helped and befriended, he was overcome by grief. If only he had saved more of them. He wished he had sold his car so that he could have saved ten more, or his gold ring so that he could have saved one or two more.
Saint Paul, in the Epistle, shows his deep compassion for the saving of the Jews also. But, where Schindler was concerned with their physical survival, Paul longed for their spiritual salvation, which could be accomplished only by one of their own, Jesus, the Messiah.
