In our Exodus lesson today...

In our Exodus lesson today, the Lord tells Moses and Aaron to tell the people to prepare
a lamb and eat it in preparation for their escape from their long years of
slavery in Egypt.
They are to place some of the blood of the lamb on the door frame of each family's house so the angel of death will pass over and lives will be spared.
Our Jewish friends and neighbors celebrated the Passover on April 19 and will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) beginning at sundown on Monday, September 29.
Skip ahead to the gospel of John in the New Testament and we hear John the Baptist, when he sees Jesus coming toward him in the waters of the Jordan River, saying, "Here is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).
Again, lives will be spared by a lamb -- not only our eternal lives, but our lives here on this earth as Jesus gives us meaning and purpose for living.
