Our faith is the victory...

Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Faith means believing fervently in something, even in spite of the odds.
Sinclair Lewis had a faith in the possibility that Dorothy Thompson, a woman he admired, would eventually consent to marry him. She eventually did, but it took hope and stamina on Lewis' part.
In 1927, when he began his courtship of Thompson, he pursued her from the United States all the way to Russia. At the Moscow airport, members of the press were waiting to greet the already-famous American writer. The exchange went like this:
"What brought you to Russia?"
"Dorothy."
"We mean, what's your business here?"
"Dorothy."
"You misunderstand. What do you plan to see in Russia?"
"Dorothy."
