A man from Seattle won a $400,000 jackpot from a Las Vegas slot machine and immediately spent most of it partying and trying to win more. The big win occurred at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino. "The Circus Circus gave me the royal suite," the man reported. "From there I went back and forth between Reno and Las Vegas and played the slots, trying to hit another $400,000." When told he owed some money to the Internal Revenue Service, the man said, "I've already spent their money, too."
Money without the wisdom to handle it productively doesn't last long or do us much good. But the Bible isn't talking just about money management. It's talking about the ability to wisely manage one's life: to make right decisions, to live by the right values, and to use one's time and talents in positive and fulfilling ways.
The New Testament says of Jesus Christ that he is "the wisdom of God" (1 Corinthians 1:24). To trust him and follow him is to obtain not only eternal salvation, but also an understanding of the true integrity of life and how to attain it with the help of God.
