The parents knew the process...
The parents knew the process by heart. They had followed it often already. Each time their son assured them that this time it would be different. He would change; he would mend his ways, stay away from the kids at school who were such a negative influence on him. But it never seemed to change for long. It always began the same way: a few missed curfews, the suspicion of drinking and drugs, confrontation, a major argument, silence and then the phone call. They so wanted their loving child again that they willingly forgave him every time, hoping that this time he really would change.
