Pastor Juanita was leading an afternoon Bible study at a church in a poor section of town.
One of the women present knew the Bible stories, but could not read. At that study she
offered insight into the lesson, an insight that came from a lifetime of listening to Bible
stories over and over again.
"This woman's insight caught me by surprise," Juanita explains. The woman knew firsthand what it felt like to be marginalized and looked down upon. Her simple faith caught everyone's attention. "We have more faith than all of you clean, educated, folks" she stated.
"I left that day a little more humbled," Juanita says, "a little wiser. I had been taught by a woman who heard the Bible stories. She gave me a profound lesson about faith." By worldly standards she did not have much, yet her faith and insight naturally drew people to her. They were first drawn to her but she pointed the way to Jesus. People at that Bible study felt comfortable asking her questions about faith.
