The picture in the newspaper showed three men wearing leather jackets standing next to their motorcycles in the church parking lot. The article described the efforts of the church to reach out to people frequently overlooked in many churches -- those who enjoy riding motorcycles.
The article told that the church would hold its third annual "Motorcycle Sunday" and then the cyclists would embark on an afternoon trip through the countryside.
People looked twice as they passed the church that Sunday and saw the parking lot filled with motorcycles. They marveled at how many people were at that church. Most of the worshipers that day were not wearing traditional suits and ties or dresses, but rather were outfitted in leather jackets, blue jeans, and T-shirts. The weather turned out beautifully that afternoon as bands of motorcycles embarked on tour under the banner of the church.
This church was definitely in line with the Apostle Paul who teaches us how important it is to identify with people who might have different life experiences. To "be all things to all people" became Paul's approach to reaching others in the name of Jesus Christ.
