Picture your schoolroom! Besides the maps and posters and special bulletin boards, there are large black boards or green boards or white boards. They have changed some over the years, but their purpose is still the same. You go to the board with chalk or a dry marker and write or draw upon it. Oops! You make a mistake, either in spelling a word or adding the numbers. Fortunately, you can erase it and have another chance.
This is what Peter means when he says, "Your sins may be wiped out." That word "wiped out" means "erased, wiped off" -- just like on a school board. God can take whatever mistakes you have made on your board of life and erase them, wipe them off. Whoever repents and turns to God is like the student for whom the teacher can give permission for the board to be erased and wiped clean.
