At the Pontiac Silverdome, April 15, 2000, former president Gerald Ford challenged a gathering of some 50,000 teenagers to "tell Jesus you love him at full throttle." The 86-year-old leader said, "I'm not going to try to talk to them specifically about the problems they're facing. I'm just going to try to give them a message of hope and encouragement that God does have a hand in what happens in your life -- that in America, a person who comes from a broken home can become president of the United States."
St. Paul similarly encourages us to grow in our commitment to Jesus Christ. We are to be filled with wisdom and the knowledge of his will, be strengthened with his power to withstand all trials, and to live grateful lives worthy of our calling by him who delivered us from darkness and transferred us into his kingdom.
