A poor woman entered a department store to be greeted by an eager salesperson. Anxious to impress the customer with her knowledge of fabrics and the variety of choices in clothing, she began her speech:
"Are you looking for something in a tweed or knit?"
"Are you interested in fur or more of a narrow-line accent?"
"We have beautiful colors and many that have great versatility for your wardrobe."
The customer nicely replied, "I would bike a warm coat."
Love is like a warm coat. The characteristics of love define and broaden the concept (as in 1 Corinthians 13). Paul quickly cuts through the definitions and says, "to crown all there must be love to bind all together and complete the whole." (The New English Bible)
If we have the basic garment with which God clothes us for service, our wardrobe is more than complete.
