A preacher's son was born...

A preacher's son was born on a farm near Hamilton, Missouri, in 1875. His health forced him to move to Colorado. There he ran a butcher shop, which soon failed. Then he got a job in a general store. Finally he bought a partnership in another store in another town. Slowly he built his business up and then he had a nationwide chain of department stores. He came from a bankrupt butcher shop to 1,700 stores. This man once said, "Nothing is more clearly established in history than that, wherever the gospel of Christ and Christianity have been honored, a way out of critical circumstances, problems which may have seemed insoluble, and confusions which appeared hopeless, has been found." You may have shopped in one of his stores. He was J.C. Penney. -- Mosley
