Questions about religion or personal...

Questions about religion or personal matters can be very tricky and lead to misunderstandings. In some cases, the results can be disastrous and hurtful. At a congregational meeting, a member asked a question about one statement in a staff person's annual report. "I was wondering if everything is all right with our pastor. In his report he thanks everyone for their support during his time of weariness. Has he been sick?" Before anything else could be said, the staff member went to the microphone and retorted: "I sat on my behind all summer. What do you think I was doing?" Some members applauded. Others cried. When we miss the message of the heart or when we twist the truth, misunderstandings and personal attacks are sure to follow. Christ assures us that he is Lord of all. When we see ourselves as children of the same heavenly Father and look upon each other as people for whom Christ died, the questions and statements of others will begin to look differently. So will our responses.
