The raising of Lazarus is a text interested in the issue of Jesus' authenticity. There continues to be a great deal of interest in the establishment of authenticity. This past summer there was a great deal of media attention devoted to the issue of a long-missing 1905 liberty head nickel. Only five of the pieces were minted by an employee of the Treasury Department and they have become the most rare among U.S. coins. The locations of four were known, two in museums and two held by private collectors. This past year a collector offered a bounty of one million dollars for the remaining coin or a ten thousand dollar commission simply for being able to examine the coin (should anyone know its location) and confirm its authenticity.
In mid-summer the family of a deceased coin collector emerged to offer the coin for examination, not sale. Its existence and authenticity were confirmed. The coin-collecting world is now anxiously awaiting the owner's next action, suspecting that a potential record auction is possible.
