A recent Top 40 hit, "We Are the World," is unique in several respects. The superstars who recorded it received no money. The profits from the sale of the record have been channeled into a compassionate stream of caring for hungry children from Africa to our own land. The response of the public has been positive because they know that purchasing this record will help the hungry.

Jesus called each of us his child. He stretched out his hand beside Galilee's lake to feed the hungry bodies of the thousands of men, women, and children who had gathered to hear his message of love. The miracle of the loaves and fishes is unique in that it is the only miracle story of Christ recorded in all four Gospels.

Corpus Christi Sunday is a feast instituted by the Roman Catholic Church in celebration of the Holy Eucharist. It celebrates him who is the Bread of Life. He who feeds both body and soul. The feast was advocated by Juliana, a thirteenth-century Belgian orphan from Liege.

Whatever our denomination might be, we can join in celebration of the gift of God's only Son to all of his children. We rejoice in our faith in Christ, who is the Bread of Life for all who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
