Regina believed that nothing was more important for her children than having God's
word in their hearts. When her children were still young, Regina skimped and saved in
order to purchase a children's Bible storybook (this was during the Depression). Her nine
children read and reread that book until the pages were dog-eared and the words faded.
She wasn't able to buy them Bibles for their confirmations, but by the time they were
married, she purchased a family Bible for each new couple. Regina continued her
campaign to put God's word into her family's hands. With the birth of each grandchild --
and Regina had 31 grandchildren -- she purchased a Bible storybook for them. (This
writer still has his!) When a grandchild was confirmed, she presented them with their
own "adult" Bible.
Regina lived to see one of her grandchildren become an ordained minister but died before two great-grandchildren were ordained. Most of her children and many of her grandchildren are active members in some church. Little wonder. Like Timothy, they were acquainted with and grew to love the sacred writings from childhood.
