Return with us now to...

Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesterday, when out of the past come those golden, quiet Sundays, where it seems that everyone went to church, or if they did not, they kept quiet about it. How we talk about those good Sundays. Today it seems that people all around us are busy working, traveling, or working at home -- mowing, painting, pounding, fixing, making noise. The old days are gone, but not the spirit of the sabbath. Our Lord was criticized because he broke the sabbath laws, but he kept the spirit of it. Rather than just mourn what is gone, may I keep, celebrate, expand, and even enjoy the sabbath day. And I can do that by worshiping, by sharing the good news, by helping someone, by being that Christian that I say I want to be but have not quite become. I want to let God's Spirit shine in me and from me so that people may know that times have changed, but God's love is still working in our world, and the sabbath is better than ever because of our God. -- Gobrecht
