Rev. Bill Bright, who heads up Campus Crusade for Christ, says that he was speaking at an evangelistic gathering on the campus of the University of Southern California. He said that after the gathering a student came up to him. The student was from another country and was studying at U.S.C. on a student visa. He said, "Rev. Bright, my family's religion in my home country is empty and holds no meaning for me. I want to know more about this Jesus that you preach." Rev. Bright told him more about Jesus and answered all his questions. Finally the young man said, "Rev. Bright, if I become a Christian I will have to inform my family about it as a matter of integrity. And when my family finds out about it, they will disown me. They will cut off my student visa. I will be forced home. And then I will probably be killed by a member of my own family. I need time to think about this. Will you stay with me for a while?" Rev. Bright said that he would. They sat together in silence, the young man weighing the decision, Bill Bright praying for him. After half an hour the young man said, "I'm ready, I want Jesus in my life. I want to be his disciple." Bill Bright led him in prayer to receive Jesus Christ as His savior and Lord. Days passed. The young man's friends from his former religion on campus shunned him. His country withdrew his visa. He was forced to return home. Rev. Bright does not know if he was martyred or not. He has heard nothing from him. It is not too high a price to pay. Having nothing, we possess all things if we have Christ. -- Riether
