Sam was involved in his church as council member, Sunday school teacher, and youth advisor. He was involved in a fraternal organization. He was also involved with a married woman. Sam's pastor happened to see Sam having an intimate moment with this woman at a restaurant. He could not avoid the situation and said hello to a red-faced Sam. The pastor's appetite was gone and he was painfully distracted during his meeting. Sam hurried into the pastor's office the next morning, asking him not to say anything, but the pastor could not agree. They talked long into the day and soon into the evening. They agreed to meet in two days. This time, the pastor was ready, and he led Sam into studying Bible texts. They cried together, prayed together, and held each other. Sam left with shoulders hung low and the command to pray unceasingly about this situation. Two months later, Sam walked into church during the sermon. He walked forward to the pulpit and whispered to the pastor. He took the microphone. The church was very quiet as Sam began to speak. Sam told of his situation and pleaded that instead of judging him, church members might pray for him and encourage him. He spoke briefly and sat down. After church, several members came forward to embrace Sam. Although they didn't agree with what he did, they knew it took incredible courage. Many spoke the words, "We forgive you." Sam's healing was about to begin.
