Sarah had been a nurse...

Sarah had been a nurse for several years. She was good at what she did, showing
compassion for people who were sick or recovering from surgery. She grew up in the
church but in her early adult years she stopped attending. At first, it was because of her
job schedule, working nights and every other weekend.
At the hospital she was transferred to the cancer unit. Caring for people who were dying, she felt the twinge of faith stirring within her. One day Sarah saw a notice on the bulletin board about a nurses' Christian fellowship that she began attending. The group, along with reading the Bible, taught her to pray as she worked with her patients. Through those days, traumatic for her in the midst of suffering, she found strength from her group, prayer, and reading the Bible.
Sarah discovered that God continued to love her, and had never stopped loving her. She continues to attend the nurses' Christian fellowship group and read her Bible. Family members frequently thank her for taking such loving care of their loved ones.
The apostle Paul reminded the Romans that God had not deserted them. He assured them that, "the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable."
