Says Paul, Give no offense...

Says Paul, "Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God." In other words, don't behave offensively toward anybody. Meaning? Meaning: Don't let your actions or attitudes be such as to destroy another's confidence in the validity of the Christian way, the integrity of the Christian life and faith. Don't break the fellowship of mutual trust.
Arthur John Gossip told how in the First World War he was stationed on the western front and assigned to look into 20 yards of darkness, to report instantly any sign of movement there. He was not to be concerned about what might be a mile ahead or somewhere in the rear, about what was going on at headquarters in London, or about whether some master plan might or might not be working out. His responsibility was that 60 feet of darkness. He was absolutely confident that next to him on the right and on the left, and up and down the line for miles, other men were awake and alert and watching, as he was. Each man must trust all the others, and no man must break the confidence, man in man, which gave the line its strength.
