The section quoted below is by Owen Dodson from Three Choruses From A Verse Drama: Divine Comedy. This excerpt is near the end of the trilogy and is entitled "Autumn Chorus (After the Prophet Has Been Killed)." It seems to capture the essence of how empowering it is to drink the cup of remembrance.
Chorus:
We feel no Christ, no power in His cross.
We feel our strength now, but not His power and strength.
Tell us, leader,
Where is this Christ in us?
Where is this Christ in us in this new winter?
The old woman spoke in riddles.
Spoke of her pain and her death and her ashes.
Now in the time of our uniting, where is our Master, Christ?
The hope we forsook for common bread?
The Saint who fled His Father's house to die for us?
Where is He?
Young Man:
He is the new strength you feel;
He has clasped the burning hand of autumn
And led the harvest into this winter.
He was the far-off dream of your uniting.
He is the dream made real,
The pain made courage,
The hope made living.
He is yourselves when you throw off the sackcloth of submission.
When you wipe the begging eye of tears.
