The servant of the Lord...

The servant of the Lord, boosted with the firm knowledge that God helps him, set his face like a flint, moving forward with confidence. This is reminiscent of Bill Porter, a Watkins salesman in Portland, Oregon. Bill was born with cerebral palsy, which left his body twisted, made movement painful and difficult, and impaired his speech. Yet, Bill's life dream was to be a salesman like his father. Many well-wishers advised him to take government help and give up his dream. He was told that he was unemployable. But Bill set his mind to succeeding. He applied for jobs and finally obtained one with Watkins by asking for their most difficult route.
Day after day, year after year, Bill painfully and faithfully walked his eight-mile route, selling Watkins products and, more importantly, developing relationships with his customers. Over the years he played many roles on his route: mediator, counselor, friend to the lonely, and confidante.
As a faithful "Watkins Man" for over forty years, Bill eventually became Watkins' all-time leading salesman.
