In several of his books Morton Kelsey relates how he first began listening to God's still small voice in the middle of the night. He had come to a dead-end street early in his ministry. He was so desperate he went to a Jewish psychiatrist friend. Kelsey's problem was that he could not sleep at night. After going to sleep for a few hours, he would awaken and then not be able to go back to sleep. He simply worried about all his problems in the middle of the night.
His counselor, Max Zeller, suggested to him that maybe the reason he could not sleep was because God wanted to talk to him. Kelsey was not easily convinced; he thought it was foolish to try to listen to God in the middle of the night. But one night when he could not sleep he took a notebook and pencil and said half-believing: "Well, God, here I am, what do you have on your mind?"
To Kelsey's amazement the still small voice did speak to him and for the past three decades he has continued this practice of listening to God in the middle of the night.
When is the best time for the still small voice to speak to you?
